Abstract: Pregnancy often increases stressors in a woman's life, and the severity varies individually depending on the perception and psychological hardiness of the pregnant woman. In any event, the benefits of stress management have been thoroughly researched and demonstrated as effective in reducing stress. Recent research points to the positive realization that stress management can alleviate the burden of life stressors and provide for a healthier, more positive outcome in pregnancy. Current research indicates the benefit to both the mother and baby by reducing stress in pregnancy. This article explores this potential and the possibility of integrating stress management techniques as an adjuvant treatment with expectant mothers.
